Herbal oils
are plant extracts for which the solvent is an oil, either mineral or
vegetable. ieS LABO processes herbal oils using vegetable oils.
Herbal oils
have been produced since ancient times; one of the oldest and most renowed
herbal oil is St John's wort oil, which is mentioned by the Romans.
After harvest, the St John's wort is steeped in olive oil straight away.
After filtration, this oil was used to sooth the pains of burns.
To process it's herbal oils,
ieS generally uses refined sunflower oil, unless otherwise requested.
Following our clients' desires, a range of oils can be used : olive
oil, grapeseed oil, organic soja oil....
As for vegetable extracts,
the concentration of the plant is 10% (in weight) at the beginning of
the maceration.
We can also
use an organic oil and an organic plant. It is then possible to obtain
an organic certification by an independant body such as Ecocert,
and to provide a customised organic herbal oil.
