MONOÏ OIL

PRESENTATION
Monoï
oil has been used by the women in Tahiti since the beginning of time
but
has only been exported for the pasty twenty years.
Monoï has a most particular administration governing it's production
and namesake - in the same way as champagne, bordeaux wines etc - meaning
that to enjoy the name Monoï it can only be produced in Tahiti according
to some very specific procedures.
PRODUCTION
 |
Firstly the
Tiaré flowers are harvested and then macerated for two weeks
in refined coconut oil with a minimum of 15 flowers per litre of oil. |
|
 |
The macerated
oil is then filtered, which gives Monoi Oil its' clear and limpid
appearance. |
|
USES
 |
Sun tan creams:
this oil is most particularly used in products when a deep tan is
sought ( note Monoï does not provide protection from UV rays)
and is used to avoid the dehydrating effects of the sun, thanks to
it's deeply hydrating qualities.
For this reason Monoï is often used in "after- sun creams",
to prolong the tan and further rehydrate the outer layers of the skin.
|
 |
Skin moisturisers: Adding
several drops of Monoï oil into the bath negates the lime in
bath water as well as adding a sweet tropical smell and for it's
deeply mositurising qualities.
For massage, monoi effectively penetrates the skin leaving the skin
satin- like to the touch.
|
 |
Hair treatments:
Applied directly into the scalp and ends, Monoï penetrates directly
to the roots, boosting the hairs' strenght and avoiding the the hair
becoming dry or the breaking of the hair follicles.
Applied whilst in direct
sun, Monoï can be used as a protection against the drying effects
of the sun., sea and wind.
